Concourse & Fordham Road

Back around 1910, this intersection was quite different. There was a paucity of vehicular traffic. The policeman was directing traffic, though one might ask why. Today, the picture is dramatically different. An underpass now takes vehicular traffic under the Concourse. For more than 50 years, the U.S. Armed Forces Recruiting Center still occupied this location. Most of the apartment buildings had yet to be built.
